I'm a filmmaker and a storyteller. And in my view, it's never easy — death. It is a combination of letting go forever, and at the same time understanding that none of us are here forever.
We live in a world where death is not something anyone likes to talk about. It's an embarrassing detail of our existence that we haven't fixed yet, and we just feel bad about it. Unless we've reached a level of spiritual enlightenment I have never been to, and perhaps never will.
I've buried both my parents, and many people who were dear to me. It's never been easy. But the more those of us who were mourning had a chance to make the ceremony around death as beautiful and as honorable as possible — that leads to memories that strengthen life. That make the person who lived bigger, and stronger, and more present in our minds.
I started this site completely by accident. And now that I have, I'm trying to make it as good as it can be — because I genuinely believe it matters.
If you're on this site and you are dying, or you are with somebody who is dying, or you've just lost someone you loved — or someone you simply need to take care of, whether you love them or not — I hope this is a place where, no matter where you come from, no matter what you believe, no matter how much money you have, you will find a path where you control the journey. The final journey. And where you can make it as good as possible, in the way you want it.
